Alga Fe is a liquid product which, thanks to concentrated extracts of seaweed belonging to Laminaria digitata as well as to its high iron concentration, is particularly suited for the prevention and treatment of several disorders arising from a deficiency or from the unavailability of this element. This product is based on alginates in a high concentration (improving iron delivery inside the leaf), vitamins and oligosaccharides (increasing plant resistance to environmental and physiological stress). Alga Fe is used through foliar application in plants suffering from iron chlorosis, a disorder which causes interveinal yellowing of leaves, poor colouring in flowers, a reduced amount of buds, small fruits with little juice, and ultimately reduced quality and quantity of the production. Even if used only in very small quantities by plants, iron is a vital element, being a constituent of various enzymes (cytochromes, catalase, etc.) regulating redox processes such as breathing, photosynthesis and the re-duction of nitrates and sulphates. Furthermore, in the ab-sence of iron, chlorophyll formation will not occur. Iron deficiency can be diagnosed by observing the green leaf venation of the younger leaves which is definitely in contrast with the rest of the leaf tissue progressively yellowing as chlorosis gets worse, up to albinism. Alga Fe can be used any time of the year, as long as the plants are in a vegetative stage.
